Welcome to

Stebbins Photography

Since the early 1800’s, people have been getting their pictures taken for the purpose of documenting and sharing meaningful moments in their lives. The images help you hang on to those memories and give you the opportunity to share them with friends and extended family.

In the past, this was always done by a hired photographer. Now days, there are cameras everywhere and everyone has one in some form or another. So now we figure, “Why do I need to hire a photographer when I can just take the pictures myself? My phone has a good camera and I’ll save some money.” Then gather up the kids and the hubby, find a nice little spot downtown or at the park and push everyone together — the entire time stressing trying to get everything just right. Now you have pictures of your heads and part of your arm. Not at all what you would want… at least not for this occasion. The point is, you hire a photographer so you don’t have to be the photographer. So you can be in the moment with your family instead of coordinating the moment. As your photographer, I want to make sure you’re in the moment, living your best life, being your best self and capturing it.

Not everyone likes to have their picture taken. I totally feel that. I’m not a fan either. Constantly worrying about how I should stand, what to do with my hands, is my cheesy smile obvious and thinking I should have gotten my hair cut like my wife told me too, but it’s not always about that. It’s about being there with my family or friends and being in the moment. Let all the critical stuff fall onto the person with the camera. My point is, as a photographer I’m going to take into account the location, lighting, posing and all the critical things so you don’t have to. I’m also going to make sure that you’re having a good time, being your best self and capturing those unexpected moments where your true self comes forward. It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, but it’s all the little things bunched together that make a memory. We want to capture the more natural genuine emotions that make your memories more vivid and meaningful so later down the road you can look at those pictures, remember the story and feel the experience all over again.
